Every year I plan a personal “watch as many films as I can” challenge but for various reasons have yet to complete it, 2010 is the year I hope to change that. By December 31st 2010 I plan to have watched 100 films for the first time, all of which can be found below. Under each film is a mini review which can also be seen on my Criticker account along with a numerical scoring of the film.

#001. The Simpsons Movie

Mini-Review: The Simpsons Movie is by all means an updated version of the series brought to the big screen. If you’ve seen the show you know what to expect and despite a new art style and a bigger set piece it can’t really shake the feeling that it’s just an extended episode. Fans will like it, those who used to watch the show will chuckle at the odd joke but If you don’t like the series you won’t like the film. Overall a disappointment for a show with so much talent and years of experience at it’s disposal.

#002. Zombieland

Mini Review: A zombie film for the “video game generation”. Constant quips, two dimensional characters, a predictable plot and a never ending supply of bullets help the film burn through it’s 80 minute run time rather quickly but nothing really stands out. Ignoring all social subtexts of the zombie genre the film is all style over substance and unfortunately just doesn’t have enough style to warrant a lasting impression or even a second viewing. Even it’s surprise “cameo” feels wooden and hollow.
